Dreaming of a December Trip to Hearst Castle
Well, it’s 3:00 a.m. and I am up and ready for the day.
My mind is racing toward a trip to Hearst Castle for Christmas. I want to take you to see this legendary estate, one of the most beautiful and historic sites in California!
Ooh, my coffee is ready, hot and steamy! Okay, brain, start working…
My plan for our December trip is this: We’ll leave Altadena on Sunday morning at 8:00 a.m. to arrive at Chumash Casino Resort in time for their extraordinary Sunday brunch. Join Club Chumash and for just $24.95, we’ll hear live jazz and savor $1 mimosas, $2 sparking wine, hand-carved prime rib, and a cold seafood bar. We’ll enjoy the casino for a couple of hours after brunch, then set off for the Embassy Suites in San Luis Obispo.
We’ll wake up Monday morning to a wonderful (and free!) made-to-order breakfast at the Embassy Suites. Our tour guide from 101 Wine Tours will join us after breakfast to take us on a luxurious chartered tasting trip through wine country. Next, we will head to Hearst Castle to tour the opulent Grand Rooms and the private quarters of the Upstairs Suites.
At this point, we’ll probably be getting a little tired, so dinner will be our next stop. Oh, and did I mention the Embassy Suites has a late evening treat for us? Before closing your eyes for the evening, you’ll enjoy an evening reception featuring complimentary beverages, beer, cocktails, and light snacks. On
Tuesday morning, we’ll board the bus for our trip home. We’ll stop for brunch and sightseeing along the beautiful Pacific Coast before making our way back to Altadena.
In preparation, I think I will take a little road trip myself along the entire route from Altadena to San Luis Obispo. Can you believe my bossy son told me that I was too old to take a driving road trip by myself and I should wait until he has the time? Hmph!
My red Honda Pilot is in great mechanical condition…I will send him a text from Chumash.
