The Getty Villa in Malibu - December 2014

Getty Villa Adventure

December 19, 2014

Save thousands of dollars, avoid the stresses of airport lines, and resist dragging heavy suitcases to visit the gems of antiquity in Europe. Instead, come with us for a day in ancient Rome and Greece - right here in California. We'll visit the Getty Villa in Malibu on Friday, December 19, 2014 for just $45.

The collection and changing exhibitions at the Getty Villa offer 7,000 years of ancient art, from the end of the Stone Age to the fall of the Roman Empire, allowing modern society a chance to view ancient objects and lifestyles. The Villa houses 44,000 Greek, Roman, and Etruscan antiquities dating from 6,500 B.C. to 400 A.D., with everything from monumental sculptures to artifacts of everyday life.

The Getty Villa is set in the hills above the majestic Pacific Ocean. We'll begin our visit in the spectacular open-air Entry Pavilion and then progress along a scenic pathway to the heart of the site. With each building at a slightly different elevation, we will experience the site as an archaeological excavation, every perspective offering new discoveries.

The Villa store has an extensive selection of books on classical antiquity along with unique gift items, apparel, and jewelry inspired by the Getty Villa site, the J. Paul Getty Museum’s antiquities collection, and special exhibitions.

Our day will include a leisurely walk to enjoy the Villa, along with lunch and shopping at Santa Monica Pier after your day in Rome and Greece. Lunch is not included in your tour price. Tickets are just $45.
